Essa Minor Hockey Association (EMHA) was incorporated as a not for profit business under the Corporations Act of Ontario, on May 12th, 1997. The Association is a result of amalgamation between Borden Minor Hockey and Angus Minor Hockey Association.

The affairs of the association are managed by and governed by an Executive Committee which is elected by the membership at our Annual General Meeting, held in March of each year. A copy of our By-Law, Rules of Operation and EMHA Policies are available on line under the "By-Laws / Rules / Policy"  tab on the left side of this screen.



EMHA is a member of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and participates within the Georgian Bay playing loop. The Georgian Bay loop includes areas such as Midland, Penetanguishine, Elmvale, Oro, Wasaga Beach, Meaford, and Owen Sound, for example. It also includes Grand Valley, Shelburne and Dundalk, Flesherton and Markdale.

Within the Georgian Bay loop, we offer local league and representative hockey. In addition, we offer an initiation program for children 8 years of age and under. Our Initiation Program is formally recognized and certified by the OMHA.

Home games are typically played at the Angus Arena located in the Town of Angus and at Andy Anderson Arena located at CFB Borden. Our representative teams typically conduct tryouts in mid to late August. A link to the try out dates for each age group is under the News tab on the left side of this page. Our local league operation typically hits the ice around the last week of September or the 1st week of October. The playing season usually runs from October to the end of March, depending on how well teams do in their playoffs.
